Hi friends....
I am a teacher at one of the CBSE schools in Ernakulam district. A teacher who has a lot of worries about the new young generation (which include my own kids).
The generation who doesn’t value anything , doesn’t accept anyone....that’s what many of us thought what you all were.To be frank there were even times when I thought of giving up on my profession......A profession that I respect the most.
The flood condition in Kerala changed my mind. When a lot of families(including my relatives)were stuck in many places , amidst all the fear and confusion, what I saw was groups of people working day and night to help those in need irrespective of the caste or religion .
I could see young boys and girls going around with great enthusiasm and humility. These were the kids whom I used call mischievous in my class. They are now running around doing whatever possible help they could.
I found that my students outside Kerala are also working in groups to meet the requirements in Kerala. Today morning I saw a quote in Facebook which really made me smile even during this hard time.
“Any malayali outside Kerala are only physically outside. Our minds are in Kerala. We feel the rain, water to our knees and the pain. We are with you.”
You all chose your profession ; Engineers , doctors , Fisher man ,teacher........ whoever you are , Wherever you are, you all are working together . That's how it should be.
What is see right now made me realise that there is nothing like generation gap, age, gender or anything. We all are more alike than different. We are all one. And that’s what I want my kids to impart in life.
To all parents and teachers...Our kids have not lost any values.
I am sad that I got this realisation through this biggest disaster. Bad things happening to us often teach us many lesson. This is a great realisation.
And once again I started loving the teacher inside me. As a teacher and as a mother I am extremely proud of the young bloods. A big salute to all those who are working for the relief of those effected. Let it inspire many more to join hands and work together.
My prayers for all those who are effected and all those who are helping Kerala heal her wounds.
